Aikido-Seminar Introductory workshop

Ulrike Serak Shihan

Workshop for Beginners

In four hours, we provide an introduction to the fundamentals of Aikido. No prior experience, no performance pressure. This course is for everyone who wants to try Aikido for the first time – and for those who have already taken their first steps and want to go deeper.

What to Expect

Two 90-minute training sessions
We begin with functional exercises and breathing techniques. Then we familiarize ourselves with groundwork: through varied rolling movements, you learn to move safely and fluidly. Over time, a sense of space, balance, and your own body develops.

The basic steps of Aikido are introduced step by step: Tai Sabaki, Tenkan, Irimi. The terms may sound unfamiliar, but the movements are natural. Everything you need will be taught in the course.

In partner exercises, we try out simple Aikido techniques. The focus is on understanding the principles: How do I use movement instead of force? How do I stay connected with my partner?

Tea break
In between, there’s time to catch your breath, rest, and talk with the instructors and other participants.

Training slowly means learning faster

It’s not about quickly collecting many techniques – but about truly feeling and understanding the movements. Patiently and mindfully.
